The 2025 World Intelligent Connected Vehicles Conference (WICV 2025), co-hosted by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), the Ministry of Transport (MOT), and the People’s Government of Beijing Municipality, is scheduled to take place from October 16 to 18 at the Beiren Etrong International Exhibition & Convention Center in Beijing E-Town. Themed “Pooling Intelligence & Energy for Boundless Connectivity”, the conference will bring together global elites from government, industry, academia, and research sectors to outline a new blueprint for the development of the intelligent connected vehicle (ICV) industry.

I. Conference Overview

As China’s first national-level professional ICV conference approved by the State Council, WICV has been successfully held for seven editions since its inception in 2018, witnessing and driving the rapid growth of the global ICV industry.

This year’s WICV is co-organized by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology Equipment Industry Development Center, Beijing Municipal Bureau of Economy and Information Technology, Administrative Committee of Beijing Economic-Technological Development Area, China Automotive Technology and Research Center Co., Ltd. (CATARC), China Society of Automotive Engineers (China-SAE), China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM), China Academy of Information and Communications Technology (CAICT), China Center for Information Industry Development (CCID), and Research Institute of Highway of MOT, among others.

The conference will follow the established “3+3+6+N” framework, comprising: three plenary meetings, including the opening ceremony, the plenary session, and the closing ceremony; three special sessions, including Automotive Industry International Cooperation Meeting, Automotive Industry Policy Roundtable, and Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Coordinated Development Meeting; six thematic summits, covering key topics such as policy and governance, technological innovation, safety and security, AI empowerment, application development, and data-driven engines; and N concurrent side events and interactive activities.

II. Four Core Highlights

This year’s conference will feature four core highlights.

1. Offering Insights into Cutting-Edge Trends. The conference will spotlight the innovative application of frontier technologies, such as information and communications technology (ICT), big data, and artificial intelligence (AI), in the automotive sector. It will also delve into how ICVs are accelerating the digital transformation of the industry and fostering deep integration between the digital and real economies. Leading global experts will be invited to share the latest technological breakthroughs, industry trends, and implementation practices in the ICV sector, while conducting in-depth discussions on technological innovation, application challenges, and risk management.

2. Innovating Experience Formats. Immersive, interactive experiences will be offered to enhance participant engagement. Attendees will be able to explore a range of cutting-edge applications, including vehicles with various levels of automated driving systems (e.g., Robotaxis, Robobuses, and Robovans), vehicle-road-cloud integration, and “Human x Car x Home” smart connectivity. Digital technologies will be integrated across all aspects of the event – from guest invitations and attendee registration to venue access and interactive engagement – delivering intelligent services throughout. Advanced technologies such as intelligent robot guides, digital twin maps, and AI-powered services, will render a fully immersive digital experience.

3. Deepening Global Cooperation. Government officials from multiple countries, ambassador-level dignitaries, and representatives from leading international organizations will be invited. High-profile special sessions – including Automotive Industry International Cooperation Meeting, and Automotive Industry Policy Roundtable – will provide platforms for government-business dialogue, fostering global exchange of best practices and offering valuable insights for policymaking and industry development. Efforts will be made to promote the implementation of international projects by deepening cross-border and cross-sector collaboration across the industry chain. Special events such as “Ambassadors Visit Automotive Industry” will serve as top-tier platforms to promote common development.

4. Facilitating Exchange and Mutual Learning. By bringing together industry leaders from across the industry chain, including automakers, parts suppliers, tech firms, and ICT companies, the conference aims to foster synergy in ICV policy and technological development. It will also focus on the evolving policy landscape, breakthroughs in core technologies, and future trends, seeking to build global consensus on development through high-level strategic dialogues and in-depth cross-sector exchanges. In addition, authoritative industry insights will be released to strengthen the conference’s influence and voice.

III. Expected Outcomes

As ICVs represent a key trend in the transformation and upgrading of the global automotive industry, WICV will further serve as a bridge or a link, connecting governments, businesses, and industry resources worldwide. This will foster integration and innovation between ICVs and related sectors, advance cross-industry synergy, and outline a new blueprint for the development of the ICV industry.

1. Establishing a Global High-Level Platform for Exchange and Cooperation. Senior government officials from multiple countries, representatives from international organizations, global industry leaders, and top experts will gather to facilitate global policy dialogue, standard alignment, and technical collaboration in the ICV sector, creating a high-level cooperative ecosystem spanning policy, technology, and industry.

2. Advancing Deep Integration of ICVs with Related Industries. Focusing on key areas such as automated driving, intelligent cockpits, vehicle-road-cloud integration, and smart low-carbon transportation, the conference will promote integrated development between ICVs and core fields, including communications, transportation, and AI. This cross-sector collaboration will unlock the full potential of coordinated innovation, accelerating the creation of a new smart mobility ecosystem.

3. Shaping Global Innovation Trends in the ICV Industry. Through diverse formats – including dialogue, test drives, and innovation outcome-sharing – the conference will unveil cutting-edge technology updates and establish itself as an industry trendsetter. It will propel forward-looking development in core technology areas, foster emerging business models and industrial clusters, and serve as both a barometer and an accelerator for ICV development.

Characterized by its professionalism, high-end engagement, and international reach, WICV 2025 is poised to be a pivotal engine in driving the global automotive industry towards a more intelligent and connected future. Preparations for the conference are now in full swing, with more highlights and the guest line-ups to be announced via the official website and channels.

We sincerely invite global industry professionals to gather in Beijing this October as part of the collective effort to pioneer the intelligent future.
